Prayer connects us to our power source.
Through prayer, we have access to the same power that Christ had.
Five elements of the power of believing prayer:
- Remember what God has done. v21
- We can remember through Scripture.
- Psalm 77:10–14; Deut. 8:2, 15–18; Joshua 4:20–24; Psalm 105:4–5
- Even the disciples had doubts and had to be reminded.
- We can remember personally what God has done in our lives.
- Trust who God is. v22
- God gives freely to all who ask in faith. James 1:5
- When we trust God, we will pray.
- Depend upon God's power. v23
- We can know in our heads, but we must actually have faith and depend on it.
- Doubting is the opposite of faith.
- We can do nothing without faith.
- Even a little faith
- Mark 9:24; Luke 17:5
- Ask according to God's will v24
- We must ask.
- We must ask according to God's will.
- James 4:3; John 15:7
- Too often we pray for just selfish things.
- Forgive as Christ forgave you. vv25–26
