What is your soul worth?
What do we live like it's worth?
People often do not live for eternity.

Following Christ requires surrending everything to Him.
Nothing is this world is worth our souls.
Often peer pressure tempts us to live like the world, but it cannot save our souls.

Three Aspects of Following Christ: v34

1. Denying Self

• Not just denying indulgence, but denying self itself—self-effort, self-indulgence, our plans, self-confidence, etc.
• Total reliance upon Christ.
• Gal. 2:20
• Philippians 3:4–8
  • Any amount of earthly success should be considered worthless; Christ should be our paramount priority.
• Psalm 51:17

2. Cross-Bearing

• Any true disciple bears his cross. Luke 14:27
• The cross represents death—the ultimate earthly sacrifice.
• We must be willing to sacrifice everything we hold dear.
• 2 Timothy 3:12

3. Following in Obedience

• James 1:22
  • We must live out what He says.
• If we're not immediately obeying what He commands, we're not truly following after Him.
• John 12:43
  • Even if people oppose us, God's approval matters most.
