Three phases:

1. God Stirs

• Divine initiations
• All good things come from God.
• We can trust God's promises.
• If we initiate, it's just wishful thinking.

2. Faith Response

• Human responsibility

• It is not automatic.
  • God wants cooperation with us.
  • We cannot actually limit God, but in His sovereignty, He will often decline to act if we do respond to his initiation.

• Faith is not a work; it's dependence upon the worker.
  • Romans 4:5
• Faith is not man-centered; it's God-centered.
  • Faith is dependence on God.
  • You must be focused on God to have faith.
  • Romans 3:27
• Faith is not passivity.
  • Faith is active cooperation.
• Faith is not an outside element put into you.
  • Faith is not God choosing for us and overriding our will.
• Faith does not focus on the subject of faith; it focuses on the object of faith.
  • The key to exercising faith is not us but God. We have to respond, but our response is wholly dependant on His call.
